Abstract

Traffic volumes have continue to grow and new types of surfacing have been developed which have characteristics that are different to those existing at the time of the original research. Given the importance attached to skidding resistance policy in the UK, the Highways Agency commissioned further research in order to reassess the earlier work in relation to present-day conditions. This paper describes some of the results of two projects which studied aspects of aggregate polishing (microtexture) and texture depth. (A)
