Abstract

The present emission test cycle was developed to control the emission of CO. It simulates those traffic conditions where CO emission is most serious, i.e. dense congested inner city traffic. The emission of oxides of nitrogen is not primarily a problem under those conditions. Its effective control will therefore ask for a test that is based on completely different traffic conditions, i.e. primarily motorway traffic.
