Abstract

The tyre procurement practices of several Michigan public transit agencies are examined. Cost comparisons between tyre purchasing costs and tyre leasing costs are performed. Tyre recycling methods are reviewed. The use of recapped bus tyres appears to be the most cost effective and energy efficient method of recycling used transit bus tyres.
