Abstract

Traffic information along the road can vary from fixed traffic signs with indications on names of cities, maximum speeds and eventual temporary indications for fog, black ice and queues, up to advanced systems by which the driver inside his vehicle can get or can ask information: e.g. route selection. The possibilities of systems which transmit information from and to the vehicle, like the German ALI-system, and the Dutch ARIADNE-system, are discussed.
