Abstract
A questionnaire survey was carried out under a representative sample of 1200 drivers in The Netherlands to identify traffic situations and behaviour, which on evidence of collision or near-collision involvement, require particular behavioural feedback for inexperienced or experienced drivers if traffic safety is to be maximized. This scientific poster presentation lends support to the statement that there is a need for additional in-vehicle behavioural feedback, particularly in those situations where deviations from adequate performance are likely to have serious consequences. The type of instruction which is fundamental to the initial learning of driving skills should be extended to drivers beyond the end of formal driver training.
