Abstract

In express coach service picking passengers from stops causes deviations from a motorway. In general the driving distance is lengthened and the deviation causes speed variations as well as more altitude difference than onthe motorway. If there are no passengers at the stop, this deviation is unnecessary and causes extra fuel consumption, emissions, time loss and vehicle operation costs. This presentation studies, how this unnecessary deviation could be avoided by using telematics and which kind of benefits can be achieved. For the covering abstract see E134653.
