Abstract

Little attempt has been made to prevent or reduce injuries to the lower limbs of motorcyclists. As a general rule it is the direct contact between limb and obstacle, whether fixed or mobile, which causes injury which varies with height and direction of impact. Frame like bumpers of the crash-bar type should be a compulsory fitting to reduce accident severity.
