Abstract

This issue of Current Topics includes over 60 abstracts of reports, conference papers, books and journal articles which focus on the injuries that occur in different types of traffic accidents. Articles include those involving rear-end collisions, front end and side impacts. Also included are measures in car design to combat injury figures, in particular, head restraints and seatbelts. Other factors in traffic accidents are also looked at such as driver behaviour and lifestyle choices such as drug use. These items have been selected from the material added to the Transport Research Laboratory's Library Database between 1998 and 2000. Much of the relevant English language literature from the UK, USA, Australia and Europe is included; some of the non-UK literature is included courtesy of the OECD International Road Research Documentation (IRRD) database.
