Abstract

It is widely accepted that the elderly are more vulnerable to trauma than other groups. We examined our records of more than 6.000 accident cases, 312 over 65 years of age, and found that not only were older people more likely to sustain more serious injury in any given accident, but that the risk to life was significantly greater for a given injury severity.
