Abstract

Innovative solutions for rail bottleneck Schiphol : from study to implementation. Within the frame work Benutten en Bouwen (Use and Build) the rail industry has carried out a feasibility study on innovative solutions for rail bottleneck Schiphol. By application dynamic traffic management it is possible to facilitate the forecasted growth in rail traffic at Schiphol without large scale infrastructure measures and with. The management has embraced the results of the study, implementing the measures, however, is a different story. Like other innovative project do, this project faces the dilemmas that are well known in literature. Most important step now is the establishing of experiments the rail network. Therefore it is necessary to break through a vicious circle: experiments are requested to obtain a basis within the production departments for establishing experiments. As you know, seeing is believing. (Author/publisher)
