Abstract

To finalize the activities of the Smart RRS Project, IDIADA Automotive Technology hosted the second Smart Road Restraint Systems Workshop. The event took place in IDIADA Automotive Technology’s facilities, located south of Barcelona, Spain in the province of Tarragona on the 14th of March, 2012. The event was attended by a number of representatives from the consortium and invitees from other parties and groups interested in the project activities. Important input was provided by Maria Cristina Marolda, Policy Officer from the European Commission and by Maria Seguí Gómez, the recently appointed Director for the Spanish General Traffic Directorate (Dirección General de Tráfico). The workshop covered diverse topics related to the outcomes of the project, such as motorcycle accident characteristics, the state of the art of the road restraint systems and their related legislations and also the development of the Smart RRS project, the objectives and the achieved results. This workshop is framed inside work package 7, related to the dissemination activities. (Author/publisher)
