Abstract
Beginning with the 2000 models, Ford has begun installing a Belt Minder, a safety belt reminder system. Recent surveys found most drivers liked the reminder and many admitted to buckling up more often because of it. Close to 80% of those interviewed expressed an interest in a belt minder for their future car. Although the Belt Minder has increased the numbers who buckle up, there still remains the 7%, who never buckled up and plan on keeping it that way even when the Belt Minder chimes and activates its flashing light.
