Abstract

A research has been done on the impact of integral urban development along highways on cost- benefit aspects. Calculations and data are available for all kinds of measurements against noise in zones along roads. For instance: cost of sound barriers, sound insulation, arrangement of rooms in dwellings. Benefits are related to criteria of (environmental)health. Protection against noise in and around dwellings, less air pollution, less wind nuisance, better comfort of dwellings have priority. A computer programme based on the study can be used for studying other situations.
