Abstract

This paper reviews the investment made by the New South Wales Government in the development and construction of the transport infrastructure of Sydney Olympic Park to service the main sporting venues and facilities for the 2000 Olympic Games and beyond. It describes how all modes of transport have been combined to provide an integrated transport system and how a Transport and Traffic Plan was developed for its operation for the first time during the 1998 Royal Easter Show. The successful use of public transport in moving about 85 percent of the 1.3 million visitors to the site is also discussed. (A)
