Abstract

This issue of Current Topics includes over 70 abstracts of reports, conference papers, books and journal articles which focus on the growing movement towards an integrated and co-ordinated approach to urban transport planning. This includes both the concept of planning for the integration of all transport modes, integrated public transport ticketing and timetabling across the urban areas, and the inclusion of these concepts in the wider framework of land use planning, demand management and environmentally sustainable traffic policies. Abstracts on modelling for co-ordinated transport systems are also included, as well as case studies describing integrated urban transport systems already in operation. These items have been selected from the material added to the TRL Library Database between 1998 and 2000. Much of the relevant English language published literature from the UK, USA, Australia and Europe is included; some of the non-UK literature is included courtesy of the OECD International Transport Research Documentation (ITRD) database. The previous edition, Current Topics in Transport CT 132 (see IRRD 895811), covered abstracts of articles added to the database from 1995-1997.
