Abstract

Since no significant construction of urban freeways is expected in the near future, auto travel must be improved by making more efficient use of existing facilities. Modern traffic engineering design and regulatory measures, hold a considerable potential. Transportation, including all modes, should be treated as a single activity which must be closely coordinated with urban form and land use.
