The integration of the bicycle within the public transport is investigated to get a better insight in the possibilities to decrease the use of the car by improving the use of the bicycle - public transport combination. Firstly, a literature survey was made. Secondly, a preliminary experiment was held to acquire the knowledge of the conditions by which car drivers will change transport mode to the bicycle public transport combination. This report is a review of the literature and of the experiment done in the cities of Arnhem and Haarlem. The ratio between the journey time with the bicycle - public transport and the journey time by car is the main factor in the willingness not to use the car.
