The integration of intelligent transportation systems in long-distance corridors.

Abstract

During some specific periods of time, like holidays (Christmas, summer, etc.) and other long weekends and local holidays, a very important traffic flow is promoted from urban areas to holiday destination. The issue of the work done is to analyze the need of the implementation of intelligent transportation systems in the long-distance corridors defined with the purpose, first, of assuring traveling every time and under every condition, second, increasing the capacity of the existing road infrastructure, optimizing the use of the road network, third, preventing from the traffic congestion, reducing its duration and length once it has formed, and, finally, increasing the comfort of the road users, providing the services.
