Abstract

The paper aims to describe the Demand Responsive Transport Services (DRTS) currently under demonstration and evaluation in one zone of the Florence metropolitan area served by the Transit Company of Florence (ATAF). The DRT system is one of the 4 demonstrators tested and evaluated by the European project SAMPO (Systems for Advanced Monitoring of Public Transport Operations) under the R&D programme on Telematics Applications (DGXIII). In this context, the paper provides an overview of the technical and operational solutions adopted by ATAF for realizing the service and integrating the DRT system in the technological scenario of the AVL system currently operated by ATAF.
