Abstract

As one of the cornerstones of Community transport policy, the development of the Trans-European networks is likely to have an important influence on the shape of Europe's transport system into the next century and hence on the environmental effects of transport. The integration of environmental protection requirements into transport policy is of course one of the major Community priorities outlined in the 1992 Transport White Paper in line with article 130r of the Treaty and as a consequence close attention is being paid to the environmental aspects of the Trans-European Networks.
