Abstract

Urban quality, regional economic development and mobility are highly influenced by transport demand and supply. On the one hand intelligent transport systems used for transport management purposes offer chances and challenges to improve the traffic situation in existing transport networks. On the other hand mobility management with innovative concepts for the mobile society will serve to develop ways of exploiting potentials to reduce the traffic volume. This paper describes the background, approach and contents of several German transport management projects, aiming to implement innovative traffic technology and new concepts of mobility services for all modes of transport.
