Abstract

The Intelligent Access Program (IAP) is a voluntary program that remotely monitors heavy vehicles using ‘telematics services’ – in-vehicle system that utilises the Global Navigational Satellite System and other sensors to monitor parameters of interest, such as location. This ability to accurately monitor compliance provides a whole new set of opportunities for jurisdictions and transport operators alike to optimise the performance of their business, in terms of both their efficiency and safety. The Operational Guidelines - Overview will assist participants in understanding the concepts involved, their particular role in the program (in broad terms), briefly explain the relationships between the various participants and the processes involved in operating the IAP.
