Abstract

Automatic Crash Notification (ACN) systems intend to report any traffic accident in order to improve traffic flow and emergency management. The general objective of ACN is to decrease response time of emergency services and accident 'clean up' time. The idea of IACN is to deliver information about an accident automatically after the incident happened. The information context and richness of the automatic notification differs significantly from regular ACN systems. The approach of this paper is to generate a framework that incorporates all existent and available information before, during and after an accident. Statistics, facts, and technologies used are described in detail. The synthesis of information in this paper is expected to benefit future research engaged with ACN and Incident Management Systems.
