Abstract

A junction in an urban network is a strategic place: for road users, for traffic managers and also for safety considerations. "Intelligent intersection" is a real time expert system architecture able to deal with all those problems. This architecture is based on an integrated software system which is able to work in real time, to communicate, manage many types of detectors and particularly video-based ones, apply control strategies or work in local mode. The paper will describe the main components of the knowledge base and present also the main features of the measurements built with videosensors.
