Abstract

Progress of a feasibility study for an Intelligent Pedestrian Device (IPD) that could provide information to the user regarding whether or not the user may safety cross the road at any given moment, is reported. Several different modes of operation for an IPD have been envisaged. This paper outlines and discusses the IPD's and suggests ways in which they might contribute to a reduction in pedestrian accidents.
