Abstract

In response to the Advanced Safety Vehicle Project Phase 2 (ASV-2) proposed by the Ministry of Transport in Japan and based on the findings of traffic accident fact-finding analyses, Honda has focused its efforts on the following research projects. Research on reducing rear-end collision and driver load to make up for recognition and judgement errors through the application of radar and CCD camera technologies. Research on protecting pedestrians and motorcycle riders to provide information on the presence of motorcycles and pedestrians through the application of infrared cameras and navigation system technologies. Research on active safety for the self-defence of motorcycles through the application of navigation system, discharge headlights and TUFFUP tire technologies. Research on reducing impact injuries sustained by motorcycle riders through the application of air-bag technology to motorcycles. For the covering abstract see ITRD E114174.
