Abstract

This Transportation Research Record contains 15 papers on the subject of intelligent transportation systems (ITS) and vehicle-highway automation. Topics discussed include ITS deployment in developing countries; customer response to online traffic information; the 1992 ITS Strategic Plan; decision trees for vehicle signature reidentification; a parking guidance system; emergency evacuation planning; locating automatic vehicle identification readers; traveler information provision for incident management; a real-time motorist information system; evaluating ITS strategies using microscopic simulation; an algorithm for predicting inattentive signal violators; a method for identifying vehicle movements for data analysis; advanced driver assistance systems; and an advanced curve-speed warning system using enhanced digital maps.
