Abstract

TRB’s Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, No. 2189 contains 12 papers that explore real-time parking information, capability-enhanced probe vehicle surveillance system with vehicle-to-vehicle communications, in-vehicle and infrastructure-based collision warnings to nonviolating drivers, emergency response technology and an integrated active transportation system, and a rural variable speed limit system. This issue of the TRR also examines intelligent transportation system user service selection and prioritization, an advanced traveler information system for guiding route choice, microscopic traffic simulation of vehicle-to-vehicle hazard alerts, a collision-avoidance system for arterial red light running, cooperative adaptive cruise control, stationary and in-vehicle advanced driving alert systems, and vehicle-to-vehicle wireless communications impact on traffic network operations.
