The nations' roadways are currently undergoing major reconstruction. This is partly due to the fact that much of the nation's infrastructure has reached its useful life and partly due to an ever-increasing traffic demand. Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) are being developed and deployed to improve the efficiency, productivity, and safety of existing transportation facilities and to alleviate the impact of transportation on the environment. This paper describes how the needed analysis tools can be used to assist project evaluation, support on-site construction supervision activities, and improve travel service to the motorist public.
