Abstract
The Rail /Train system is most advantageous where it can make maximum use of its specific characteristics, namely, the fast, safe, and energy- saving transportation of large volumes of goods and people. However, the need to exploit these advantages also involves certain system disadvantages, including the maintenance of a complex infrastructure which is unable, for economic reasons, to provide total area access, and which thus restricts the flexibility of individual transport and individual travel.
