Abstract

The development of a macro-economic approach to the analysis of the relation between roads and road transport, and the Australian economy is described. The approach is based on the technique of input-output analysis, (that is, the study of interindustry flows of goods and services). The estimation of the road industry, and the road transport industry is described, by disaggregation of existing broader sectors in the official tables. A discussion is added.
