Abstract

Interactive decision-making with the Route 26 approach : some experiences with a pilot in the region of Leiden Oost. Route 26 is an innovative process designed to facilitate 'break through' interactive decision-making in the field of transport planning. Route 26 was developed during the 'Roads to the Future' innovation program, initiated by the Dutch Department of Transport. By a more participative process, involving the stakeholders and respecting their interests, searching for mutually beneficial solution. Route 26 also developed a toolbox of methods to facilitate the interactive process. The location chosen for a pilot of the Route 26 approach is the multi-modal transport node of Leiden Oost, along the main A4 motorway, on the outskirts of the city of Leiden. Several local authorities have worked together with regional government and the Department of Transport to find sustainable and feasible solutions. (Author/publisher)
