Abstract

Effects of alcohol intake and cigarette smoking were examined during a 3 hour-period in 12 healthy male subjects with moderate alcohol and tobacco habits. Results indicated synergistic interaction between alcohol and cigarettes for the variables heart rate and hand steadiness, but antagonistic interaction for skin temperature and reaction time. Blood alcohol levels were not significantly influenced by smoking.
