Intercity bus accessibility in Canada : from innovation to implementation.

Abstract

This paper outlines the Canadian experience from the initial development of an accessible intercity coach, major demonstrations, through to major actual implementation strategies. It briefly traces the regulatory and policy framework in Canada for accessible transportation including the recently released policy "access to all". It concludes with a brief description of the new national strategy for persons with disabilities announced by the federal government on September 6, 1991.
