Abstract

An analysis is given of the wearing of seat belts after this become compulsory under the law in 1972 in New Zealand. Most significant findings were a doubling of seat-belt usage and a decrease in fatalities to front seat occupants and a general reduction in the severity of injuries sustained by belted occupants.
