Abstract

Yokosuka ITS research center was founded by TAO (Telecommunications Advancement Organization of Japan) in 1999. Since then the research center has been conducting R&D on info-communication system technologies relating to ITS, which include three study items of wireless agent technology, Radio on Fiber (ROF) communication system technology, and wireless multi-mode terminal technology. Out of the three study items, this paper presents some interim R&D results on ROF communication system technology after three years' activities. The developed DSRC (Dedicated Short Range Communications) access network system utilizing the ROF technique with a function of diversity-handover between the adjacent radio zones is described in the paper, and also several technical items for ROF such as E/O conversion device, a compensation method of inter-modulation, dynamic radio zone control, and a beam controlled array antenna are described.
