Abstract

Intermodal Traffic Information Services as developed by the project INFOTEN (European Commission DG XIII Telematics Applications Programme) are providing comfortable access to traffic information on any mode of transport in a combined way. This could induce travellers to make best use of the available transportation networks and systems and thereby satisfy their mobility aims in an economically and ecologically viable manner. The INFOTEN consortium elaborated theoretical prerequisites on technical and operational levels. Practical demonstrators for intermodal traffic information services were installed within its partner regions and assessed in a comparative manner. This paper gives a brief overview on background and results including a list of recommendations for future research and development in the field. (A*)
