Abstract

Seeking ways to further explore traffic dynamics, the authors set out to establish an acceptable parameter for the internal energy of traffic flow. They analyzed four vehicle interaction related parameters by using data from aerial photographs and concluded that one of them, the coefficient of variation of speed, is a suitable measure of internal energy.
