Abstract
This volume includes more than 20 papers by engineers from the automobile industry in the united states and japan and by representatives from government agencies interested in safety. The history of air bag development is outlined and the status of research on inflatable restraints is described. Other papers discuss inflatable passive air restraint system crash sensors, gas generators for inflatable restraints, air cushion deployment sound intensity, and augmented air inflation systems. Technical data is presented for international consideration by nato countries. /author/.
