Abstract

This volume is one of the annexes to a main report on safety effects of road design standards which was compiled by SWOV in collaboration with other European partners, in 1993-1994. For the covering abstract of the report or the report itself, see C 2838. In this annex, the European organizations are analyzed having regard to the role they play in the field of road design standards and/or road safety. The European Union, the United National Economic Council for Europe, the European Conference of Ministers of Transport and the European Committee for Standardization are paid special attention to. The role of other organizations, such as the O.E.C.D., P.I.A.R.C., F.E.R.S.I., and others, is only highlighted.
