Abstract

This report presents the results of the study into the "international state-of-the-art in container logistics and performance requirements for mega hubs". The report serves as a tool for fine-tuning and prioritising the subjects to be tackled in the FAMAS.MV2 research and development programme. The initial aim of the FAMAS.MV2 programme (June 2000) was to conceptualise and design, in public private partnership, standard high throughput automated container terminals with the connecting I(enter) TB(germinal) TB(transport) system, on basis of the requirements for Maasvlakte II in the port of Rotterdam for the year 2020. On the basis of the results of the present study the aim of FAMAS.MV2 now includes a focus on developing solutions for those issues for which no specific "stake holder" is available. (A)
