Abstract

The unsafe behaviour of road users is still the main cause of accidents in many countries in the world. These behaviours must be monitored through representative measurements and accurate indicators to allow initiating and evaluating the policies to reduce the number of road fatalities. The Belgian Road Safety Institute organized the first International Symposium on Road Safety Behaviour Indicators on 23 April 2015 in Brussels. The event featured presentations by international experts on behaviour monitoring, exchange of experiences in implementing behaviour measurements and discussions about methodologies used to build representative indicators.
