The interpretation of vehicle detector output by canonical variates analysis.

Abstract

The analysis of output from vehicle detectors on the roadway is important if the traffic flow at an intersection is to be automatically monitored. One technique which is particularly suitable for this purpose is the statistical procedure as canonical variates analysis. The effectiveness of the procedure is demonstrated.
