Abstract
The program "Reagir" has developed a multidisciplinary approach for the improvement of road safety. Other initiatives such a research (road legibility, a series of studies concerning safety and infrastructure) or more operational ones (program- 10% safer city neighborhood without accidents) have been implemented to improve road safety. The conception of bidirectional road which can be integrated into 2 x 2 lanes in future extensions. The geometric standards for motorways have been modified. User information should allow an improved usage of the roads. The experiments "antiope" and "teletel- route" are examples of this. The terrain data collection is improving, as well as the transmission and processing systems.
