Introduction: Current issues in road user research.

Abstract

Much more is known about accident mechanism and accident contributory factors than is known about the mechanism underlying road user behaviour and the factors that contribute to behaviour that raises the accident risk. These mechanism and factors are only partly to be found on the level of perceptual motor control processes; it is not so much the question what the road user can do, but what he is inclined or willing to do.
