Abstract

It is shown that it is possible, and recommendable, to take into account pedestrian and two- wheeler safety at all stages of the planning process. An example is described: a French new town, Le Vaudreuil, has tried to get built- in safety for pedestrians while keeping the plans as flexible as possible for future development.
