Abstract

The purpose of this book is to trast prohability theory as a self contained mathematical subject rigorously, avoiding non-mathematical concepts. The book tries to describe the empirical background and to develop a feeling for the great variety of practical applications. This is served by many special problems,numerical estimates, and examples which interrupt the pain flow of the text.
