Abstract

A comparison of four different traffic flow models is conducted. After an analytical analysis and a careful discussion of the models, simulations with real initial and boundary conditions are performed. The results of the different models are compared with observed data taken from a German highway. The investigations show weaknesses and strengths of the models, recommendation about the various fields of application are given. For the covering abstract see ITRD E114174.
