Abstract

According to the rates of fatal accidents per 1 million of population, in 2005 Lithuania had the worst situation among the EU states - 223 fatalities per 1 million of population. This indicator is more than twice higher comparing to the same accident data of the European Union. As the goal of traffic safety activity is to avoid the consequences of traffic accidents, and especially the serious injuries and fatalities, as well as to reduce the occurrence of erroneous behaviour patterns of traffic participants, so, after estimating the interaction between the traffic safety system elements, the possible means assisting in the interaction of traffic safety system and enabling to evaluate the efficiency of traffic safety improvement means are analysed in this work. Scientific problem is to estimate the factors determining the reliability of traffic safety system: the "Traffic participant-Vehicle-Road (Traffic Environment)". (Author/publisher)
