Abstract

The second chapter of this report discusses, the results of the first phase of the research in which the subjects were not aware that they were participating in an experiment. Chapter III describes passenger car studies involving velocity stability under various controlled environments including open road, constant lead car velocity, and variable lead car velocity. Chapter IV repeats the above studies but makes use of professional drivers and tractor-trailer rigs. Chapter V describes preliminary studies in the simulation of the passing manoeuvre. Recent data reduction developments and camera design and fabrication are reported in Chapter VI. Finally a brief outline of current research is reported in Chapter VII.
